Bangladesh concluded their AFC Under-23 Asian Cup 2024 qualifiers campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Philippines at Chonburi Stadium in Thailand Tuesday.
After the first half ended goalless, Gavin Muens netted the all-important goal for the victors from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.
“The boys played well. We got two clear-cut chances and should have scored. We also conceded a penalty. We have to learn more – not to make silly mistakes, how to control emotions and take the right decision in right time,” said Bangladesh’s head coach Zulfiker Mahmud Mintu after the match.
Bangladesh earlier lost to Malaysia and Thailand in their previous two Group H games to see the exit door from the competition.
