Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has been declared closed for an indefinite period following the attack on its academic building.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held at Buet campus on Thursday afternoon, said Buet Public Relations Officer Shah Alam.
Students have been asked to vacate all the dormitories by 5pm.
A group of students besieged the offices of Buet vice-chancellor and registrar on Tuesday, demanding the postponement of their final examinations.
"The protesting students attacked the academic building and carried out vandalism there on Wednesday night," said the PRO.
He said the authorities took the decision in fear of deterioration of law and order situation on the campus.
