Freelancer Sohanuzzaman Khan Nayan won the table tennis singles title in the Walton-BSJA Sports Carnival, beating Dhaka Tribune’s Fazley Rabbi Moon in the final Thursday at National Sports Council in the capital.
Nayan prevailed by 2-0 sets, winning 11-4, 11-6.
Jugantor’s Jotirmoy Mondal finished third after defeating freelancer Mahbub Alam Khan Babu.
Jotirmoy won 11-6, 11-7.
Nayan partnered with Jotirmoy to bag the TT doubles title, overcoming Babu and Mazharul Islam 11-6, 13-11 in the final.
DT’s Moon and Syed Mohammad Mamun emerged third.
Senior executive director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries FM Iqbal Anwar Don was present as the chief guest during the inauguration as the sports carnival got underway Thursday.
Bangladesh national TT team coach Mohammad Ali, five-time national TT champion Sonam Sultana Soma, Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association president Sayeeduzzaman, general secretary Anisur Rahman, tournament committee convenor Raihan Mahmood and member secretary Robiul Islam Robi were also present among others.
Carrom, chess, swimming, shooting, archery and call bridge are the other disciplines of the sports carnival.
More than 50 members of the organization will be participating.
