Bangladesh Police emerged as the champion in the Bangabandhu Federation Cup Handball Tournament, a competition that was held after a long 15-year hiatus.
Police edged Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party 31-26 Wednesday in the final at Paltan’s Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium.
The tournament was organized by Bangladesh Handball Federation to mark the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The four-team Bangabandhu Federation Cup Handball begins Saturday at Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in Dhaka.

The first half was tied 14-all following which Police edged ahead in the second half with Sohag Hossain netting 14 goals.
Police claimed their first Fed Cup Handball title in five editions.
Ansar won the inaugural edition in 1988 while Bangladesh Rifles bagged the next three editions in 2002, 2003 and 2005, defeating Police on all three occasions.
