Clear Men U-17 Championship national round gets underway

The national round of the Clear Men Bangladesh U-17 Championship Football Tournament for school children kicked off in Dhaka Tuesday. The top 16 teams selected out of 272 schools across the country are now playing in the national round at the Uttara Rab 1 ground in the capital city. Clear Men in association with the Bangladesh Football Federation organised the tournament. On the first two days of the national round, eight teams were in action. BAF Shaheen College, the champion of Dhaka, secured a 3-0 victory against Patenga High School, the champion of Chattogram on the first day. Rupsha Bohumukhi High School, the runners-up of Khulna, won 2-1 against Progoti High School, runners-up of Sylhet. Mohammadpur Government High School, the runners-up of Dhaka, defeated TSP Complex School, runners-up of Chattogram, 3-1. The match between Sirajuddin Ahmed Academy, champion of Sylhet, and Bagerhat Bohumukhi High School, champion of Khulna, ended in a goalless draw.

On the second day, Bagerhat Bohumukhi High School defeated Mohammadpur Government High School 2-0 while Sirajuddin Ahmed Academy beat TSP Complex School 4-0. The divisional rounds took place from March 27 to April 24 this year. The qualifiers for the national round are Sonadighi High School and Jamira High School from Rajshahi, Rangpur Zila School and Haragach Bohumukhi High School from Rangpur, Bagerhat Bohumukhi Collegiate School and Rupsa Bohumukhi High School from Khulna, Baptist Mission Boys High School and Government Technical School Pirojpur from Barishal, Sirajuddin Ahmed Academy and Progoti High School from Sylhet, Patenga High School and TSP Complex School from Chattogram and BAF Shaheen College and Mohammadpur Government High School from Dhaka. In addition to rewarding the best schools, the BFF will also nurture 26 football wizards, picked up from the tournament, in the long run.
