Ireland women's team whitewashed Bangladesh in the three-match Twenty20 International series after Laura Delany held her nerve under immense pressure to help the visiting side secure a four-wicket victory in the third and final game at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Monday.
Delany hammered an unbeaten 31-ball 36 as Ireland knocked off Bangladesh's 123/7 with just one ball to spare, despite facing a hiccup following a solid start.
With the side needing four runs off the last two balls, she hit Shorna Akter for a boundary to confirm the victory.
Ireland won the first two matches by 12 and 47 runs respectively.
Opener Amy Hunter made 28 while captain Gabi Lewis added 21.
They put on 55 for the opening stand to raise their prospects of a facile victory but Bangladesh bowlers made it tough by taking wickets at regular intervals.
Delany stood tall amid the adversities to help the touring side secure the victory, and subsequently, the series sweep.
Invited to bat first, Bangladesh lost Murshida Khatun (12) cheaply but then got going, thanks to Sobhana Mostary and in-form Sharmin Akhter Supta.
The duo shared 71 for the second wicket before Supta was out for 34.
When Sobhana was dismissed for team-best 45, Bangladesh were 107/3 in 15.2 overs.
From then on, they were able to add just 16 runs for the loss of four wickets
Orla Prendergast was the wrecker-in-chief with 4/22 from four overs while Amiee Maguire took 2/25.
Bangladesh earlier swept the three-match One Day International series.
