Young Tigers beat Pakistan to confirm Asia Cup final

Skipper Azizul Hakim Tamim Friday played yet another blistering knock as Bangladesh Under-19 team thrashed Pakistan by seven wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates to move to the final of the Asia Cup.

The holders will take on India in the grand finale Sunday at the same venue.

Earlier on the same day, India beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh youngsters put themselves in a commanding position after wrapping up Pakistan for just 116 runs in 37 overs, thanks to a brilliant performance from the bowlers.

The batters, led by skipper Hakim, then gunned down the target in dominating fashion, reaching the destination in just 22.1 overs with 120/3.

Hakim fittingly signed off the game with a boundary to remain not out on a 42-ball 61, an innings studded with seven fours and three sixes.

Bangladesh got off to shaky as the openers departed with only 28 on the board.

Zawad Abrar made 17 and Kalam Siddiki was out for a duck after playing 14 balls.

Hakim then steadied the ship by counterattacking the Pakistan bowlers.

The Bangladesh captain and Shihab James added 57 for the third wicket to edge the side closer to victory.

Naveed Ahmed Khan removed James for 26 with Bangladesh 32 away from the win.

Hakim then denied Pakistan from initiating any inroads and guided the side home without further trouble.

Rizan Hossain was unbeaten on five when Hakim confirmed the victory.

Earlier, pacer Iqbal Hossain Emon claimed 4/24 to leave Pakistan in a miserable state.

Put in to bat first, Pakistan were first undone by pace bowler Maruf Mridha who snared 2/23.

Mridha dismissed both Pakistan openers Usman Khan and Shahzaib Khan for ducks to give their side a strong start.

Emon then appeared on the stage and sliced through their middle-order in no time.

Farhan Yousaf was the top-scorer for Pakistan with a run-a-ball-32, an innings laced with one four and three sixes.

Muhammad Riazullah made 28 while captain Saad Baig added 18.

Apart from these three batters, Haroon Arshad was the only other to reach double digit with 10.
