Bangladesh women’s cricket side were no match for dominant Team India as the record seven-time Asia Cup champions swept into Sunday’s grand finale after winning Friday’s semi-final by 10 wickets in Dambulla.
Batting first, the Tigresses managed a paltry total of 80 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs with only captain Nigar Sultana Joty (32) and the unbeaten Shorna Akter (19) scoring in double digit.
The women in red and green lost wickets in regular intervals as Nigar waged a lone battle while the usually prolific Shorna only came in at No 8.
Player of the match Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav bagged three wickets each for India, while Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar picked up one apiece.
In reply, India coasted home in 11 overs with openers Shafali Verma (26) and Smriti Mandhana (55) facing barely any trouble in their pursuit of the target.
Mandhana hammered nine fours and one six in her 39-ball knock while Shafali struck two boundaries in 28 deliveries.
India will take on either Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the final.
