Nasum six-for halts North

National team spinner Nasum Ahmed picked up six wickets for BCB South Zone to halt BCB North Zone on 385 before his team finished on 112/2 on the second day of their Bangladesh Cricket League match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong Monday.

The other match of the round is brilliantly poised at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur where Walton Central Zone finished the day on 223/9 replying to Islami Bank East Zone's 245.

Resuming on 246/4, North lost their centurion Naeem Islam when the score was 274.

The experienced batter Naeem scored 137 runs off 245 balls before he was caught behind by Zakir Hasan off Nasum.

That dismissal symbolized the match as Nasum became the hero of the second day toppling that of the first day.

After breaking the 160-run stand, Nasum soon removed Mahidul Islam Ankon, who made 76, to reduce North to 283/6.

The left-arm spinner took three more wickets to finish with figure of 6/126.

Sharifullah scored 56 batting at eight to help add 102 runs for the last few wickets.

At stumps, South batters Towhid Hridoy and Amit Hasan were not out on 39 and 31 respectively.

In Mirpur, Central made a disastrous start as half of their batters returned to the pavilion when the score was 32.

Taibur Rahman and Jaker Ali Anik however, rescued the side with a 152-run stand.

But Central started losing wickets in quick succession again after Taibur was dismissed for 76.

Jaker succumbed in nervous ninety as he was dismissed for 92 off 180 and Central will require another 23 runs in the third and penultimate morning to take the lead through their last pair.

Asaduzzaman Payel got three wickets for East while Anamul Haque, Tanvir Islam and Nayeem Islam bagged two apiece.
