Bangladesh women beat Pakistan, set up Emerging Cup final with India

Bangladesh women's cricket emerging side made it through to the final of the ongoing Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup 2023.

Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by six runs in a rain-curtailed second semi-final at Mong Kok Cricket Stadium in Hong Kong Tuesday.

The match found a result on the reserve day but was still hampered by rain.

The game was reduced to nine-over-per-side in which batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh posted 59 runs losing seven wickets.

The Tigresses suffered a batting collapse which saw them six down for 16 runs in 3.4 overs.

Rabeya Khan batting at No 7 scored 10 runs while Nahida Akter at No 8 added 21 off 16 deliveries laced with three boundaries and one over boundary.

Chasing the target, Pakistan needed 13 off the last over which left-arm spinner Sanjida Akter defended giving away just six runs.

Pakistan were restricted to 53 for four.

Leg-spinner Rabeya bagged a couple of scalps while Nahida and Marufa Akter picked a wicket apiece.

Opener Eyman Fatima top-scored for Pakistan with 18 off 15 deliveries.

Bangladesh in the grand finale will take on India Wednesday at the same venue.

The first semi-final between India and Sri Lanka was abandoned without a ball bowled and India advanced to the final backed by a superior net run rate to the opposition.
