After the ODI series win against hosts West Indies, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal said his charges were desperate for such a feat following their series defeats in Tests and T20Is earlier on tour of the Caribbean.
The Tigers lost both the Test and T20I series 2-0 but came back strong in 50-over cricket, romping to a series victory Wednesday in Guyana, and registering their 10th consecutive ODI win against the Windies.
“We really wanted to win this series very badly after losing in the Tests and T20 Internationals,” said Tamim in reflecting on a performance which gave Bangladesh a fifth straight ODI series win.
"We know this is the format we are strongest in and it was important to show that confidence after the earlier disappointments."
The West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran, who fell to left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed for a first-ball duck, offered a frank assessment of their performance.
"We didn’t show up as a batting unit. It is quite frustrating our batting efforts of late in ODI cricket and we need to come together quickly to fix this situation," said Pooran.
