Top five overseas players in BPL 2022

Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2022 has seen some big names of T20 cricket and most of the overseas players were available for the full tournament for a change. Although T20 legends like Chris Gayle or vastly experienced Lendl Simmons have not performed to the expected level, a few other big names shone brightly throughout the tournament and made impact performances overall. Here are the top five overseas players who performed well in this BPL:

Will Jacks

The English opener was a kind of an unknown player in this part of the world and was a  surprise pick by Chattogram Challengers this season. But the right-hander played superbly and finished as the highest run scorer with 414 runs from 11 innings with four half-centuries. The 23-year old struck 43 fours and 19 sixes and the most impressive part of his batting was his strike rate, which was 155.05. Jacks was the star performer for Chattogram who played vital knocks whenever his team needed the most.

Stat: Jacks scored 414 runs in 11 innings with an average of 41.4 and strike rate of 155.05 and struck four fifties with a high score of unbeaten 92.

Andre Fletcher

West Indian opener Fletcher was a consistent performer for Khulna Tigers and played some entertaining innings to lift his team to the eliminator. Particularly the "spiceman's" unbeaten century while chasing 183 in a do-or-die match was a special knock. The right-hander ended the tournament being the second highest run scorer with 410 runs from 11 innings. Fletcher smashed 21 sixes from 11 innings, which is the tournament highest, and also blasted 33 boundaries that helped his team big time in the powerplay.

Stats: Fletcher scored 410 runs from 11 innings with a brilliant average of 58.57 and strike rate of 138.98. He scored one century and three half centuries with the highest score of 101

Dwayne Bravo

The West Indies legend is having a great tournament with the ball, and also played a vital knock in Sylhet with the bat. Vastly experienced Bravo bowled well, as per expectations on separate surfaces in Mirpur, Chittagong and Sylhet to help Fortune Barishal sail through to the final. Although his fellow countryman Gayle is having a below-par tournament, Bravo served well, and consistently, with the ball. Bravo took 17 wickets from just nine innings with best figure of 3/30. He also scored 119 runs off 90 deliveries before the final, which was handy as well.

Stat: Bravo took 17 wickets from nine innings with an economy rate of 7.93 and scored 119 runs in eight innings with an average of 23.8 and strike rate of 132.22.

Colin Ingram

The veteran South African batsman Colin Ingram adjusted well in the later part of the tournament and scored plenty of runs. The left-hander scored 333 runs from just nine innings with three fifties for Sylhet Sunrisers. Although Sylhet managed to win just one game in 10 attempts, Ingram was their regular performer at the top-order. Ingram’s 300-plus tally in the tournament came with a good strike rate of 137.6 and the southpaw hammered 36 fours and a dozen sixes.
