Bangladesh lose by seven wickets in second ODI

Bangladesh have lost the match by seven wickets after scoring 194-9 in 50 overs against hosts South Africa during their second One Day International at Johannesburg on Sunday. 

In reply South Africa reached the target in 37.2 overs with the loss of just three wickets. 

Kyle Verreynne  scored an unbeatnen 58 while Quinton de Kock scored 62 for South Africa. 

After a dismal start the visitors were reduced to 34-5 before Afif Hossain resurrected the innings with the aid of Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah.

Afif made highest 72 and formed two partnerships of 60 and 86 in sixth and seventh wicket respectively with Mahmudullah and Miraz. Miraz scored 38 while Mahmudullah made 25. 

South African pacer Kagiso Rabada returned with 5-39 bowling 10 overs. 

Earlier on the day, after winning the toss, skipper Tamim Iqbal (1) and Shakib Al Hasan (0) got out within five overs. 

Later Liton Das (15), Yasir Ali (2) and Mushfiqur Rahim (11) and Mahmudullah (25) also got out as Tigers batters are struggling against South Africa pacers.  

 Bangladesh have selected an unchanged playing XI compare to the first ODI where they won by 35 runs.

Bangladesh are leading the series 1-0 having won the first game by 38 runs.

The tourists with the win broke their 20-year long wait to register first victory in a bilateral series in South Africa and have also now won ODIs in every country they have played in.

The gem of the performance from Bangladesh was produced though a team effort which they will need to recreate to grab the rare opportunity – of winning a series against South Africa at their backyard.
