Mushfiq’s DRS conundrum continues

Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim made another blunder regarding the use of decision review system as he not only reviewed a plumb looking leg before, but also did it after the stipulated time.

It happened in the early morning of the fourth day when Rahkeem Cornwall, the tall off-spinner, bowled from over the wicket to the right-handed Mushfiq.

The diminutive batsman tried to pull by swiveling on the back-foot but the ball did not bounce as much as he expected and missed his bat to hit his back-thigh.

The umpire straightaway raised his finger as he saw the batsman’s back leg was bent.

However, Mushfiq, one of the most experienced batsmen for the hosts, reviewed and it showed there was no involvement of the bat and the ball would hit the off-stump.

It looked more awkward from Mushfiq’s part as he had a long discussion with his partner Liton Das and went for review after his stipulated 15 seconds was over.

The umpire Sharfouddoula however, allowed the review to go on and Bangladesh lost one of their reviews.

Earlier, during the first day, Mushfiq was on the other side of the wicket while Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam, who was set on 59, was given leg before.

After the discussion with the senior partner, Shadman decided not to go for review despite all three DRS intact, only to find out on the replay that the ball would miss the leg-stump.
