Bangladesh are likely to play two Tests in Kandy, and the third in Colombo, when the side tour Sri Lanka next month.
A tentative fixture has been chalked by the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Sri Lanka Cricket, and will be revealed ahead of the series.
Given that the three-Test series is still a long way away, the two boards are taking time to confirm and announce the fixture, and would probably need to make more adjustments even after that.
According to BCB sources, it is understood that both BCB and SLC at this point have agreed to a schedule.
As per the tentative fixture, Bangladesh national team, along with the BCB High Performance Unit, will travel to Colombo on September 27.
After requests from the BCB, the host nation has agreed to arrange Covid-19 test for the touring teams, and depending on the results, opportunity will be granted to get to the field for practice as soon as possible.
Bangladesh team ahead of the series proper will play three three-day practice matches, the first two with the BCB HP team, and the third against local opposition.
It is understood that the national team management would prioritize the 20-member national squad for the warm-up games, and include about five to six players from the HP unit.
All the three practice games are likely to be played in Colombo, the first beginning on October 4, with at least four practice sessions scheduled ahead of the game.
The second three-dayer will start on October 10, with the third scheduled for October 17.
Following the long conditioning camp in the Sri Lanka capital, Bangladesh team are likely to travel to Kandy on October 20.
After two days of practice in the city located around 123kms away from Colombo, Bangladesh will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the first Test, starting October 23, followed by the second from October 31 at the same venue.
For the final Test of the series that is part of the World Test Championship, Bangladesh will travel to Colombo and take on the host from November 8.
The fixture as of now allows the BCB to avail the services of all-rounder Shakib al Hasan.
Left-arm all-rounder Shakib has been serving a one-year ban, imposed by the International Cricket Council, for failing to report corrupt approaches, and the suspension ends on October 29.
With the second Test likely to be played from October 31, Bangladesh do have the opportunity here to get Shakib involved in the last two Tests, provided the cricketer is prepared to play the longest and toughest version of the game upon return from a horrific chapter in his illustrious career.
