Focused Liton targets consistency

Bangladesh opening batsman Liton Das has informed that more focus and determination are the reasons behind his brilliant run of form with the bat in the recent past.

Liton scored 59 in the first T20I against Zimbabwe at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Monday, and followed it up with an unbeaten 60 in the second and final T20I at the same venue Wednesday.

Prior to that, the right-handed batsman hit 176, nine and 126 not out in the three ODIs against the same opponent while his lone innings in the one-off Test match against the African nation yielded 53.

So in total, Liton has aggregated 483 runs against Zimbabwe in the bilateral home series.

“In the past, whenever I scored, maybe I got relaxed a bit, thinking that I am in good form and runs will come in the next match as well. Maybe my focus was not upto the mark in those times. But in this series, I batted with more focus. I thought in this series in a way that every day and every innings is a new start. I have to start afresh. One ball is enough to lose my wicket. So I tried to play according to the merit of the ball and concentrate on my performance more,” said Liton during the post-match press conference Wednesday.

Liton denied that Zimbabwe’s bowling attack was poor and said every opponent in international cricket are challenging.

“You can say bowling attack might be less attacking compared to other teams. But for a batsman, every ball is challenging. A batsman gets out in one delivery. No matter what, whether you are batting against Mitchell Starc or Christopher Mpofu, you have to bat with same focus and concentration. Maybe for some bowlers you may get more scoring shots but you have to focus well in the end,” said the 25-year old.
