Bangladesh women eye improvement against England

Bangladesh women’s cricket team will look to come up with a better batting performance in the World T20I, but it would require a herculean effort to win as they take on one of the tournament’s strongest sides England in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Bangladesh standard time, in Gros Islet.

Bangladesh showed promise in the first match with the ball as they restricted host West Indies to a modest 106/8 in 20 overs with Jahanara Alam taking 3/23 in her four overs.

But batting failure saw the team being bundled out for a paltry 46 runs, the lowest in World T20I history.

England and Sri Lanka had their first match washed out due to rain and as a result, shared points, so Heather Knight’s team will also be looking for their first win in the tournament.

There has been talk of the matches in St Lucia to be shifted to Antigua amid fears of all the games there being washed out by rain.

There have been two previous occasions where Bangladesh have faced England and the latter have won in both the meetings.

The match will start at 2am, tomorrow, BST.
