Tigers need 318-run for Banglawash

India have set up 318-run target for Bangladesh in the last and third ODI match at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday.

India scored 317 runs in 50 overs losing 6 wickets.

Dhawan stroked a 73-ball 75 and captian Dhoni made a 77-ball 69 that saw India through the middle overs. Together, they laid the platform for the lower middle order.

Bangladesh's teenage fast bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman picked up another Indian wicket in 49th over. He sent Raina back to pavilion for 38 runs.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma was picked up by Mustafizur in his sixth ball of the sixth over of the match. Rohit managed to score 29 runs.

MS Dhoni and his partner Ambati Rayudu were removed in succession who built up a strong innings.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza sent Dhoni back for 69 and Rayudu for 44 in a short period to break up their strength in the match.

Earlier, Mashrafe removed Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan for 75 runs.

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan picked up Kohli in his first over. Kohli, who was steady with Shikhar Dhawan after the departure of Rohit Sharma, scored 25 runs.

Winning the toss, series winner Bangladesh invited India to bat first.

Tigers skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said: “We want to bowl because of the rain that has been around, there might be something for the bowlers there. Taskin misses out as he is not fit, Arafat Sunny comes in.”

Last Sunday, host Bangladesh achieved something that they had failed to do ever since they played their first ODI against a Full Member of the International Cricket Council in 1986.

Three days ago, the Tigers clinched a bilateral series for the very first time against neighbours India.

Now the Tigers stand on the brink of yet another slice of history – the golden chance of registering a “Banglawash” over the world’s No 2 side – when the sub-continent rivals face each other in the third and final ODI at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

A whitewash will be Bangladesh’s third in a row following series sweeps over Zimbabwe last year and Pakistan recently.

Having outwitted the visitors in every department of the game, expectations will be high on them to finish off in style.

Under-fire India, on the other hand, will look to salvage some lost pride before they head home.

However, given the Tigers’ authoritative displays in the first two ODIs, it will not be a surprise if the tourists are unable to prevent a series sweep.

Mustafizur Rahman, the young left-armer of Bangladesh has not only created history by bagging two five-wicket hauls in as many ODIs but has also dented the confidence of the much-vaunted Indian batting line-up.

One more similar performance will be expected from Mustafizur, who is on the threshold of a glorious record.
