Toilet: Ek Prem Katha enters 100 crore club

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s buzz making film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha entered the coveted 100-crore club in India. At a time when the B-Town box office was going through a dry spell, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a much-needed hit, stated India Today. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film was made on a budget of Rs18 crores and turned out to be a blockbuster already. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha revolves around Keshav (Akshay) and Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar), who fall in love and get married. But all hell breaks loose when Jaya discovers that there is not a single toilet in the village, and the women go into the fields while it is still dark to relieve themselves. Jaya refuses to answer nature’s call in the open, and walks out of her marital home until Keshav builds a toilet for her. The film has been receiving mixed reviews from critics after the release, but it seems the social drama has met the audience’s demand, who are helping a steady run for the film at the box office. Besides,  Bareilly Ki Barfi, which was expected to create a monetary strife with Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, has failed to do so. The Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao starrer film has released today and reportedly failed to beat the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer as of now.
