Apu Biswas has been stranded in Nepal amid severe floods and landslides that have disrupted road and air travel across the country.
The actor, who was in Nepal for the shooting of her upcoming film "Shikar," said she is safe in Pokhara and is planning to return to Dhaka.
The disaster has killed at least 165 people, while hundreds remain missing in Nepal and neighboring Tibet. Nepal’s disaster agency reported that 823 people were unaccounted for on Thursday, including at least 579 Nepali and foreign tourists.
Speaking from Pokhara, Biswas said the highway connecting Pokhara and Kathmandu had been severely damaged. She said she had been informed that repairs could take several weeks.
“Our vehicle has been arranged. We will travel to Kathmandu today. There is a lot of rushing for flights. I will return to Dhaka from Kathmandu by flight tomorrow, Friday,” Biswas said.
The actor also asked her fans and well-wishers not to worry about her and requested prayers for her safe return to Bangladesh and her child.
Biswas and the “Shikar” team had been in Nepal for filming when the floods and landslides disrupted transportation. Other members of the film’s cast were also affected by the disaster.
The floods struck parts of Nepal near the China border on Wednesday, with the disaster causing extensive damage to roads, bridges, and settlements. Rescue operations are continuing as authorities search for people reported missing.
The “Shikar” team is expected to resume its travel arrangements once routes become accessible.
