“Harry Potter” star Rupert Grint is set to return as Ron Weasley in the Broadway production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," nearly 15 years after the film series concluded.
He will join the New York cast for a four-month run beginning in February 2027.
Grint first played Ron at the age of 11 and appeared in all eight “Harry Potter” films between 2001 and 2011. In the Broadway play, he will portray an adult version of the character, who is married to Hermione Granger and has a daughter attending Hogwarts.
“Dusting off the old robes. New York — see you all in February,” Grint wrote on Instagram.
In a statement, Grint said, "Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old, and I can’t wait to meet him again at this stage of life.”
He added that returning to the role while both he and Ron are fathers feels both familiar and new.
Grint will be the only member of the original trio—Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Grint—to reprise his film role on Broadway.
Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the films, is also currently appearing in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," although the two actors are not scheduled to perform together.
Felton’s run is scheduled to end on January 3, 2027, while Grint is set to begin performances on February 2 and continue through May 30.
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is set 19 years after the events of the original books and follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione as adults. The story focuses on their children and the next generation at Hogwarts.
Grint previously appeared on Broadway in “It’s Only a Play” in 2014. His television credits include “Sick Note," "Snatch," and "Servant."
The Broadway production’s producers, Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, said Grint’s portrayal of Ron in the films helped define the character for generations of audiences.
The play continues the “Harry Potter” story on stage and has been performed in several cities worldwide.
