Script search delays 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'

Director Anees Bazmee has said work on “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4” has been delayed because the team is still searching for the right script, despite reports that the film is in development.

Speaking to Variety India, Bazmee said the challenge is not casting or scheduling but finding a story that can live up to the franchise’s previous installments.

He said: “We put everything in the first three films. We even made the hero Manjulika! So naturally, now we need a great story to make the fourth film.”

Bazmee added that the team is still looking for the right idea and said he would be happy to direct the film once a suitable script is ready.

The filmmaker also praised Kartik Aaryan, who played Rooh Baba in the franchise’s recent installments.

Bazmee said: “I have a great rapport with Kartik. We are good friends, and both the films that we have made turned out to be big hits.”

He described Kartik as a “director’s actor” and added: “His biggest plus point is that he puts in a lot of hard work. If he gets the help of a good director, he can do wonders. He is great at comedy and is full of laughter all day.”

Bazmee said he enjoys working repeatedly with actors with whom he has built a strong professional relationship, citing his collaborations with Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and Salman Khan.

He said: “I feel it is friendship that when we work with each other, we enjoy it and the whole emotion is different. So, I am sure, with Kartik too, whenever I make a film, we will make a good one.”

While “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4” remains on hold, Bazmee said he is working to complete a new comedy starring Akshay Kumar, alongside Vidya Balan, Rashii Khanna, and others.
