‘Dorothy’ teaser offers first look at Karthik Subbaraj’s new film

Director Karthik Subbaraj has released the first teaser for his upcoming period drama “Dorothy,” offering a glimpse of a story centered on friendship, conflict, and loss.

The teaser introduces Karthi and Subbu as close friends whose relationship appears to change with the arrival of Keerthy Suresh’s character, Dorothy. Without revealing major plot details, it hints at an emotional conflict between the trio.

Set against a period backdrop, the teaser relies on visuals and music to establish its tone rather than dialogue. Ilaiyaraaja composed the film’s soundtrack.

Sharing the teaser on X, Keerthy Suresh wrote: “Some journeys begin long before the road. Some calls can never be made. And some bonds are tested by a world determined to tear them apart. This is not just a story of friendship. It’s a story of everything that stands in its way.”

Subbaraj announced the film’s title a day before releasing the teaser. He also confirmed that “Dorothy” will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) before its theatrical release on September 25.

The film is produced by Karthik Subbaraj under Dhammam Films, alongside Guneet Monga and Achin Jain of Sikhya Entertainment. Jyoti Deshpande is producing on behalf of Jio Studios.

The technical team includes S Thirunavukkarasu as cinematographer, Ganesh Siva as editor, Kumar Gangappan as production designer, Dinesh Subbarayan as action choreographer, and Ilaiyaraaja as music composer.
