Bangladesh selected Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury's feature film "Boli" to compete in the Best International Feature Film category of the 97th Oscars.
The film was submitted to Oscar Bangladesh Committe when they invited submissions in September. The committee finalized "Boli" as its pick after watching the film on Tuesday night, October 01.
The story of "Boli" revolves around an elderly man from a fishing village who challenges a wrestling champion to combat. The film won the highest New Currents Award at the 28th Busan International Film Festival, one of the world's notable awards for cinema.
National Film Award winning actor Nasir Uddin Khan, AKM Itmam, Priyam Archi, Angel Noor, Tahadil Ahmed etc. have played various roles in the film 'Boli' produced by Piplu R Khan.
The 97th Academy Awards will be held on March 2, 2025, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The award will be given to 24 branches at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. Best International Feature Film is one of them.
