Director Rafat Mozumder Rinku was released on bail after two days of jail time. The court granted him bail on September 26 afternoon.
Rinku's lawyer confirmed the situation. He said that Rinku was arrested as a suspect because of his political background. He was granted bail pending legal action.
It needs to be noted that Rinku was the Vice President of Dhaka Metropolitan North Chhatra League.
On July 19, Naimur Rahman was shot dead in Shahjadpur area of Gulshan during a protest rally. Naimur's father Khalilur Rahman filed a case against 64 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana, and son Sajeeb Wazed in this incident. Director Rafat Majumdar Rinku was arrested as the accused in that case. He was arrested from Gulshan on September 23.
Rinku is known for his work on Potongo, Bodh, Khoborwala , Rupantor and many more. Rupantor became controversial for its transgender central character played by popular actor Jovan.
