Rajuk to cancel Arifin Shuvoo's plot

The authorities have decided to cancel the Rajuk plot granted to actor Arifin Shuvoo in the reserved quota. The plot of Liton Haider, the producer of "Mujib: The Making of a Nation" is also said to be cancelled.

On Wednesday, Rajuk Chairman Major General Siddikur Rahman Sarkar conferred this information to the media.

He said, "Initiatives have been taken to cancel the plots allocated in the reserved quota from the former Prime Minister's office at various times. As a part of that, the authorities have decided to cancel the plot of Rajuk allotted to actor Arifin Shuvoo, who came into discussion with the movie ‘Mujib: The Making of a Nation’. However, no plot allotted as per general rule is cancelled.”

The Rajuk chairman have further stated, “We have started the work of preparing the list on the instructions of the ministry. However, we can't say how many plots will be cancelled. Basically, hundreds of unregistered plots have been listed. The allotment will be canceled by presenting this list in the board meeting.”

It is to be noted that in the board meeting of Rajuk held on November 27 last year, it was decided to allocate 10 kathas (approx. 404 square metres) to Shuvoo and 3 kathas (121 square metres ) to producer Liton Haider from the Purbachal New Town Project. After that, Shuvoo accepted a contract by depositing government-specified money against this plot. But due to lack of time he could not register the plot.

After the ouster of the Awami League government on August 5, a calculation of the plots allotted for political considerations in the last 15 years followed. Rajuk's decision to cancel the plot of Arifin Shubo and Liton Haider came as an outcome of that.
