Embezzlement allegations against actor Apurba

Popular Bangladeshi television actor Ziaul Faruk Apurba finds himself embroiled in controversy as Alpha i Studios files a formal complaint against him for alleged embezzlement, breach of contract, and schedule irregularities. The complaint, submitted by the company's Managing Director Shahriar Karim Bhuiyan (Shahriar Shakil), accuses Apurba of failing to fulfil contractual obligations, leading to financial loss and production delays.

According to the complaint, Apurba signed a contract with Alpha i in October 2022 to act in 24 dramas, agreeing to a payment of Tk 50 lakh. However, after participating in only 9 dramas, he allegedly took payments totalling Tk 33 lakh and ceased communication with the production company. Furthermore, Apurba purportedly failed to complete the agreed-upon dramas by the specified deadline, causing additional inconvenience to the production team.

Despite receiving a legal notice on March 3, Apurba allegedly remained unresponsive, prompting the producer to seek intervention from industry associations Telepab and Abhinay Shilpi Sangha. Apurba, when approached for comment, refrained from addressing the allegations directly, citing ongoing legal proceedings and asserting his innocence.

In response, Apurba vehemently denied the accusations, labelling them as "false, fabricated, motivated, and defamatory." He expressed disappointment at being implicated in such allegations and reiterated his commitment to resolving the matter through legal channels.

Telepab's general secretary, Saju Muntasir, confirmed the acceptance of the charge sheet and stated that efforts are underway to facilitate a resolution between the parties involved.

The unfolding saga underscores the challenges faced by the entertainment industry in maintaining contractual integrity and professional conduct, casting a shadow over the career of one of Bangladesh's most prominent television personalities.
