World Theatre Day is being celebrated by Open Space Theatre. Children (Age 7 to 17) are welcome to attend any performance on March 27 and 28 for free, and students will receive a special discount! On March 27, people around the world observe World Theater Day. It was started to support theater, raise awareness of its significance among the general public, and get decision-makers and authorities to take notice of and support theatrical productions. World Theatre Day is primarily about spreading people's enthusiasm for theater to others.
In honor of World Theatre Day, Open Space Theatre is hosting two performances of "12 Angry Men" on March 28 and one performance of "Art" on March 27. By attending both of their concerts or making a donation to the group, people can support the theatrical art form. Theatre continues to be one of the most significant art forms that merits respect and preservation, having played a fundamental role in human history for more than 2,500 years.
Encourage friends to attend performances by actively promoting the arts. People are being encouraged to promote Open Space Theatre shows on social media by posting their recommendations. They can also enroll in their weekend acting workshops and invite their friends to participate in group activities.
World Theatre Day is a fantastic chance to spark the kids' interest in theater. Children can enjoy "Art" and "12 Angry Men," both plays. For them, it would be an exciting and enlightening experience. They can learn to respect other viewpoints and to value people of all kinds through theater. It imparts cultural relativism and empathy skills to young people.
The most active theater platform in Bangladesh is Open Space Theatre, which organizes acting workshops, fosters the growth of new performers and plays, and attracts new audiences to theater. They have so far performed in front of 20,000+ spectators and produced 4 magnificent plays under the direction of M Arifur Rahman. They have produced 69 performances of their productions altogether:
• 12 ANGRY MEN by Reginald Rose- The classic courtroom drama. (Production-1, Shows-36)
• AND THEN THERE WERE NONE by Agatha Christie- The famous murder mystery. (Production-2, Shows-14)
• ARSENIC AND OLD LACE by Joseph Kesselring- The hilarious dark comedy. (Production-3, Shows-18)
• ART by Yasmina Reza- The French playwright's critically acclaimed comedy play. (Production-4, Shows-1)
• Open Space Theatre is currently preparing their 5th production, which is going to be a spiritual treat for everyone.
M Arifur Rahman, the director of Open Space Theatre said, “I consider myself fortunate to have had the chance to interpret and direct Yasmina Reza's wonderful production of "ART." This comedy raises important questions about friendship, creativity, and the difficulties of interpersonal relationships. Every actor participated in a process throughout the rehearsals that strives to produce an accurate, credible, and true portrayal of a character. Since I like to make my shows relatable for the audience, I am confident that this one will be enjoyed by friends for many years to come.
