Aynabaji at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury’s celebrated crime thriller Aynabaji is going to be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Aynabaji has been selected among five other subcontinental films, including Pakistan’s Rahm, Bhutan’s Thimphu, Nepal’s White Sun and Sri Lanka’s Withered Leaf. The annual film festival, which will commence on August 10, will also project a number of recent top Bollywood films, including, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Dear Zindagi, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story among others. The festival will also feature an award giving ceremony, a dance competition and a series of master-classes, besides film projections. Renowned Bollywood figures like Shoojit Sircar, Karan Johar and Vikram Phadnis will be hosting the master-class. Director Amitabh Reza Chwodhury has expressed his delight upon hearing the news. His blockbuster thriller, Aynabaji, which is scheduled to be projected on August 20,  revolves around Ayna, a struggling actor, who finds that the only way to follow his passion is to take on the most difficult roles imaginable – imitating the well-connected in order to serve their prison sentences. Aynabaji is a study of the horrifying forces the impoverished must contend with, to survive in a world built upon their backs. Founded in 2010, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) is presented by Film Victoria and the State Government of Victoria, and produced by Mind Blowing Films, a Melbourne-based distributor of Indian cinema across Australia and New Zealand. The festival was previously called Bollywood & Beyond. In 2012, it was re-established as an initiative of the Victorian Coalition Government that aims to strengthen ties between the Indian film industry and Victoria.
