Ben Affleck to star in new biopic on escape artist Houdini

After a four-year hiatus, director Dan Trachtenberg is back to making features, and Ben Affleck has been confirmed to star in the former's latest project.

Based on William Kalush and Larry Sloman‘s book The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero, the Black Mirror director Trachtenberg would bring the little-known story of the magician's personal life to the big screen. The project was first announced in 2016 and has been in development ever since.

According to a latest report from SlashFilm, Affleck will not however play the title role. The Gone Girl star has been cast as "a supporting character who is some kind of agent," involved in Houdini's life.

Afflect is going to have a few busy years ahead as he is also set to play the lead role in George Clooney's upcoming film The Tender Bar, reprise his Batman role in Flash, and direct his upcoming project titled The Big Goodbye detailing the making of classic film Chinatown.
