Nicolas Cage to play himself in ‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’

Nicolas Cage, once considered one of Hollywood’s highest paid actors, has recently been making small-budget films. And that is about to change soon.

Known for his over-the-top performances and an eccentric lifestyle which includes buying the most haunted house in America and tripping on mushroom with his pet cat Lewis, the actor is making headlines again.

The 56-year old actor is now returning to play a fictionalized version of himself in the upcoming meta drama titled The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Comedian Tiffany Haddish will star opposite Cage according to recent reports. The Girls Trip actor would also appear in Paul Schrader’s next film The Card Counter.

The IMDb synopsis of the film reads, “A cash-strapped Nicolas Cage agrees to make a paid appearance at a billionaire super fan's birthday party, but is really an informant for the CIA since the billionaire fan is a drug kingpin and gets cast in a Tarantino movie.”

Fans are excited to see Cage navigate his career and life in the new film. In Adaptation, written by Charlie Kaufman, the actor played the writer himself as well as Kaufman’s fictionalized twin brother in a similarly bizarre film.

Directed by Tom Gormican, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent would star Pedro Pascal and Sharon Horgan in supporting roles.
