Bangladeshi director Rezwan Shahriar Sumit’s A New Prophet has been selected for the prestigious Torino FIlm Lab. The director will be attending two of their workshops: TFL Next and TFL Audience Design.
The workshops will focus on the development of feature film, welcoming 12 projects each: the first workshop taking place on September 7-11, and the second on 14-18.
Previously, Meherjaan director Rubaiyat Hossain attended the TFL Audience Design Workshop.
From Kolkata, director Suman Sen’s project titled Solo, produced by Arifur Rahman and Bijon Imtiaj, has also been selected this year for the Feature Film Development workshop.
Sumit’s participation has been funded by IEFTA - International Emerging Film Talent Association.

A total of 36 participants from all over the world – with a strong presence from Asia – will get the chance to work in small groups, with the help of TFL Tutors Chiara Laudani (Italy), Eilon Ratzkovsky (Israel), Leonardo Staglianò (Italy), Aleksandra Świerk (Poland) and Anita Voorham (Netherlands).

According to TFL’s website; “TFL Next consists of carefully crafted workshops to help filmmakers to move forward with their projects. This is a unique opportunity to enhance, share and test ideas with peers and high-level tutors from all over the world.”
“The workshops are addressed to international professionals with feature film projects, encouraging creative development through intensive coaching.”
Previously, Sumit’s National grant-winning film Nonajoler Kabbo (The Salt in our Waters) won the prestigious Torino Film Lab Audience Design Fund of €45,000.
