Results of Shilpi Samiti election unchanged

Earlier, Omar Sani, the defeated presidential candidate of the recently concluded election of Bangladesh Chalochitro Shilpi Samiti, had appealed for a repeal of the results. In response to the appeal, the election commission and the appellate authorities decided to re-count the votes.After the re-count, Omar Sani’s vote increased from 153 to 162. On the other hand, the president-elect Misha Sawdagar received 259 votes. Therefore, the results of the biennial election remain unchanged. After announcing the results of the re-count on Tuesday, Montajur Rahman Akbar said that there has been a slight mistake in counting the votes but denied allegations of rigging the election. Akbar also informed, “There is no point repealing the result, nor there is any option to do it.”Shakib Khan files GD Meanwhile, Shakib Khan has lodged a general diary (GD) over an alleged assault on May 6 during the election. Shakib’s co-actors Zayed Khan and Saimon Sadik were among the accused in the complaint which was filed with Tejgaon Industrial Police Station last night. In the complaint, Shakib Khan said that he went to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) around 1:30am on the election night since the results were being delayed. “I noticed a man in a red T-shirt, holding a pistol along with a few other miscreants with machetes in their hands. They attacked me when I asked why are outsiders there there with arms,” his statement read. Shakib said he managed to escape with the assistance of policemen and his personal bodyguards.Moushumi might resignMoushumi, Omar Sani’s wife, was elected as an executive member in the election. However, the star revealed that the incident with Shakib Khan on the election night terrified her and forced her to change her initial decision -- whatever happens, she will work with all. The actress is yet to hand in her resignation.
