Deepto TV to air Mujibnagar

Deepto TV will broadcast a documentary titled Mujibnagar on April 17, at 5pm. Produced by Kazi Media Limited, the documentary portrays Mujibnagar – a town in the Meherpur district of Bangladesh, formerly known as Baidyanathtala and Bhaberpara. It focuses on the historical significance of the place where the Provisional Government of Bangladesh was formed on April 10, 1971 by the Awami League, who were leading the guerrilla war for the independence of Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) in 1971. The Mujibnagar government had also been known as Mujibnagar Government in-exile, and was headed by Tajuddin Ahmad, who took an oath on April 17, 1971 at the same place. The place was renamed Mujibnagar by the proclamation of independence, in honour of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, who declared the independence of Bangladesh. A lot of historically significant structures, including the Amrokanon, Mujibnagar memorial, and Muktijuddho Smriti Complex exist in the area. Research, script and direction of the documentary was done by Bratto Amin.
