Government to finance short films on Bangabandhu

Ministry of Information’s Department of Films and Publications (DFP) has recently posted an announcement for filmmakers to submit short film, and documentary scripts on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The announcement was posted on Department of Films and Publications’ official website on August 1. 

Filmmakers need to send in five copies of script, and detailed production plan for their short film or documentary within August 29. Directors or screenwriters need to send in their full name, detailed address, and a copy of their national identification card (NID) while mailing the detailed proposal.

Selected short fiction will be provided a maximum of Tk30 lakh, and selected documentary will receive a maximum of Tk20 lakh each, as their production budget.

These productions will be part of the 100th birth anniversary celebration of Bangabandhu. The film and documentary subcommittee of the ‘National Implementation Committee for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Platinum Birth Jubilee Celebration’ will be the producer of these projects. The final shortlisted films and documentaries will be financed by the government, according to the announcement.
