Tommy Shelby enters politics in Peaky Blinders Series 5

The first trailer for Peaky Blinders Series 5 was released by the BBC on Tuesday. The trailer looks very promising, and darker than the previous seasons.

While still holding back on the release date of new episodes, the channel posted the clip in its social media channels, writing: “Power comes at a price. Get ready for the new series of #PeakyBlinders, coming soon to @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer.”

The new series, from creator Steven Knight, is set in the late 1920s. In the trailer we see that Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby enters the realm of politics, and goes head to head with Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), who later became the leader of the British Union of Fascists.

Both the cinematography, and background score complement the trailer.  The trailer also shows a few new characters along with the show’s regular ones.

Peaky Blinders new season is expected to premiere on BBC One later this year.
