Konal sings for World Health Day

In order to commemorate the upcoming World Health Day on April 7, Somnur Monir Konal has recently lent her voice to a song which aims to help those suffering from depression.
The lyrics of the song particularly, “Bishonnota holey kar-o sathey bolo kotha/bhaag korey nao dukkho betha” invites those who are depressed to open up about their issues and seek help. Bayzid Kurshid Riaz penned down the lyrics while Maksud Jamil Mintu composed and arranged music for the song.
Talking about the venture, the singer said, “As a singer it’s my moral obligation to raise awareness about issues. I feel good knowing that people are recieving an important message through my song.”
Talking about the theme of the song, Channel-i Sera Kantho 2009 winner said, “I have friends who suffer from depression and I feel really sorry for them.”
This year’s theme for the day is - “Depression: Lets Talk.” According to WHO, “Depression causes mental anguish and impacts one’s ability to carry out even the simplest everyday tasks, with sometimes devastating consequences for relationships with family and friends and the ability to earn a living.”
Konal’s song was officially unveiled at a press conference held at the Channel i studio Tuesday in the presence of the health minister, Mohammed Nasim MP.
The song has been made with the help of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and World Health Organization (WHO).
