A new dawn of Bangladeshi music came along with the reality show Closeup-One back in 2005. One of the prominent participants of that year's edition who caught the eye of the audience and judges was Mahadi Faysal. Though he did not occupy the first place, he did manage to be on top of the hearts of millions. His singing, work and love towards music made him popular among his fans. He was noticed as a romantic track singer, specifically after singing “Tumi Boruna Hole Hobo Ami Hobo Sunil” which was penned by Asif Iqbal and composed by Prince Mahmud.
Later on he grabbed attention through “Hridoyer Jhore,” “Nijhum Raat,” “Bhorer Shishir” and many other popular tracks.
Mahadi is seen rarely in some musical programs these days. In a recent short interview with Dhaka Tribune's Showtime, the singer told his reasons.Showtime: Your fans want to know why you aren't here.Mahadi: I am here right in front of you.Showtime: But why aren't you in the music scene?Mahadi: Well it is hard to explain like that. Honestly it is hard to find time these days.Showtime: What are you occupied with these days?Mahadi: Busy; job and overall it’s not working out.Showtime: Then you bid farewell to music for corporate life?Mahadi: It's not that either. But yes, for a secured life, I am spending more time in the corporate arena. That doesn't necessarily mean that I have quit music.Showtime: A lot of young and promising musicians aren't being able to put time in music, especially young, band musicians. Isn't that causing pain to their fans?Mahadi: Of course. I do think that our other occupations hurt our fans and I try my best to work on my music whenever I get time. But the problem with that is my free time doesn't match with the one I want to work with.Showtime: But this isn't the “12 song an album” era. You can do singles.Mahadi: I’ve plans on that too but can’t promise anything. I was thinking about it myself since last December.Showtime: When will the listeners find the singer Mahadi back?Mahadi: Soon. I’ve a lot of plans spinning in my head currently. Just need to sit down, work on it and it'll be done. I’m praying that I can sit down for that as soon as possible.
