Kolkata’s Srabanti to be the heroine of Tahsan-Taskeen

Renowned TV director Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz, who gradually took a crunch and successfully ventured into productions for the silver screen, is set to make a smashing back with his impending film “Jodi Ekdin.” After creating quite a buzz by landing singer turned actor Tahsan and “Dhaka Attack” famed Taskeen Rahman in two of the pivotal roles in his coming romantic drama film, the director has recently signed Tollywood sensation Srabanti Chatterjee to essay the female lead opposite both Tahsan and Taskeen. Raz took to Facebook to make the announcement on Thursday. “Only a day left to start making the arrangements for my daughter’s wedding,” Raz wrote on his Facebook profile, metaphorically calling “Jodi Ekdin” his daughter. “Before kicking off the work, I felt it is necessary to reveal that Srabanati will depict the female lead role in my film,” he added. The director went on to clarify that the Indian Bangla actor has completed the legal process and eventually received the work permit from the government. “Some may ask why I am casting a foreign actor instead of the local ones. My answer to them is that many of the prominent actors from Dhallywood including the likes of Jaya Ahsan and Shakib Khan are working in Kolkata. In that case, there is nothing wrong with hiring Srabanti for a Bangladeshi film. Besides, Srabanti is from Barishal. Her ancestors used to live there,” Raz further clarified his stance of hiring a foreign actor for a key role. This is, however, not the first time Srabanti is being featured in a Bangladeshi film. Earlier, the actor worked opposite Shakib Khan in “Shikari,” an Indo-Bangla joint venture film. The “Champion” actor, who is set to play “Aritri” in the film, said that she is excited to work with Raz. “I felt good after hearing the story. He has wonderfully described it to me. I am impressed with the trailer and songs of the film. I hope we are about to do a beautiful work,” Raz said quoting Srabanti. Produced by Bengal Multimedia Limited, “Jodi Ekdin” is the fifth feature film of Raz.
