Miles frontman Shafin Ahmed's has sent a stop and desist notice to the band about using the name “Miles” without his prior approval.
Shafin held a press conference at Parjatan Motel in Mohakhali on Wednesday to explain his actions.
He said he has registered the band as a private company, showing legal papers, tax certificate and registration of ‘Miles Band Ltd’ to reporters at the press conference. The registration was dated November 17 this year.
He also said: “Shafin Ahmed still would have shone even if there was no Miles.”
Earlier on December 14, Shafin posted a copy of the legal notice on his Facebook profile asking all concerned parties not to use Miles’s name without his permission, signed by Supreme Court lawyer Mustafa Jamal Pasha.

Hinting to the other band members, the notice said some people were performing stage shows and making financial transactions with other entities using Mile’s name illegally.
The band was founded in 1979 and is widely regarded as one of the most popular rock bands of the country. Miles gave birth to a new controversy several months ago after rumour spread that Shafin Ahmed is going to step down from his group to pursue a solo career, following his absence at the recent shows.
Previously, other band members – Shafin’s brother Hamin Ahmed, Manam Ahmed, Iqbal Asif Jewel and Syed Ziaur Rahman Turjo – have all denied the accusations made by Shafin Ahmed.
According to them, there have been no such issue within the band except for Shafin, who they said wants to concentrate on a solo career by raising such allegations.
