Vidya Balan to perform in Dhaka

Bollywood actor Vidya Balan is set to perform in Dhaka on January 19, during the inauguration of a new Bangladeshi satellite channel called Happiness. The Indian National Film Award and five-time Filmfare Award winner  is expected to be the main attraction during the inaugural event, which will take place at Dhanmondi’s Abahani field. The channel’s Chairman Jahirul Islam Mintu informed the media during a press conference at the National Press Club’s press conference lounge. He also told the press: “We want to make this a grand event, that’s why we have chosen Dhanmondi’s Abahani field for the programme on January 19.” He also added that not only Balan, but Kolkata’s singer Nachiketa Chakraborty and actor Subhasree Ganguly will also be performing at the event. Balan is known for portraying strong feminist characters and has been acknowledged in the media for pioneering a change in the concept of the Hindi film heroine with projects like “No One Killed Jessica,” “The Dirty Picture,”  “Kahaani” and many more. She has also received the Padma Shree Award, which is the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India. Balan is currently also a member of India’s Central Board of Film Certification.
