Apu Biswas to clarify her divorce with Shakib at a press meet

Immediately after the escalating circulation of the news of their divorce, both Shakib Khan and Apu Biswas had buried their head in the sand for a while. However, it took only a day for the soon-to-be-ex couple to come out and make brief comments on the issue. However, Apu has refused making any official statement in this regard without consulting a lawyer first. Apu, on Wednesday, said: “I did not receive any official notice as of yet. But, I have been looking for a solicitor since I heard the statement of Shakib’s lawyer.” Earlier on Monday, many of the local journalists gathered around Apu’s residence following the escalation of her divorce spree with Bollywood star Shakib Khan but she did not show up. “Journalists are gathering in front of my house. I do not want to say anything about the matter right now. After consulting with my lawyer, I will arrange a press briefing within a day or two and clear my stance in this regard,” she later said. Shakib contacted his lawyer, Shirajul Islam, on November 22 to initiate the process of divorce with his wife of nine years, Apu Biswas. The lawyer further said Shakib accused Apu of locking their son in the house before going abroad with a friend. Shirajul hinted that this incident had finally tipped Shakib’s marriage over the edge. Shakib is currently busy with shoot of “Nolok”, a film directed by Rashed Raha, in India’s Ramoji Film City. He signed the divorce notice November 22 and told the reporters that he was done with this marriage and any further comment on this issue will be delivered by his lawyer. The notice came as a surprise to Apu, as she expressed her belief that they had already resolved all of their marital issues. “I can’t believe it,” said Apu when speaking to reporters. “My last trip to India for treatment leaving our son in Bangladesh created a little misunderstanding between us. He might have done something in the heat of the moment. But we settled the dispute within a few days,” she added. The celebrity couple tied the knot in secret on April 18, 2008. The couple’s relationship began to deteriorate at the beginning of this year, when Apu brought their six month old son to a television talk show and made their marriage public on April 10 this year.
