Bangladesh’s celebrated actor and model Jaya Ahsan has signed up for yet another Bangla film in Kolkata.
To present her aficionados with an intriguing character, this time the doe-eyed beauty is set to portray Labonno, the wife of eminent poet Jibananda Das, confirmed Anandabazar Patrika.
Directed by Sayantan Mukharjee, the film is inspired from the life of "the premier poet of the post-Tagore era in India,” titled “Jhora Palok.”
“It's a complicated character. There were some grey areas in their relation and I am trying to depict that. I am loving this work,” Jaya noted during a break from the shooting, based in Kolkata.
Accomplished Indian theatre artist, playwright, director and actor Bratya Basu along with Rahul will portray the poet in his different ages.
Amazed by Basu's work ethics, Jaya said: “Despite being a man of this many ventures, Bratya da's efforts and dedication to the film is remarkable.”
When talking about Jibananda Das, his poetic creation Banalota Sen naturally comes. However, as per the report of Anandabazar, “Jhora Palok” will follow no such character but the “Guerilla” actor has a better answer to this.
“Sometimes it feels like Labonno is Banolota. However, Labonno undeniably contributed a lot in the works of Jibananda and I can certainly say that.”
Recently, the three-time National Film Award winning actor bagged the Best Actor award at the Celaidoscope Indian Film Festival in Massachusetts, US for her acting in “Bishorjon.”
The film also earned the Best Film award at the festival which ran from September 8 to 11.
