Ae Dil Hae Mushkil winning big at the box office

There were times when Bollywood took it for granted that Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hae Mushkil will have to endure tough times at the box office because of the upheaval of controversies surrounding the film. However, ADHM has proved everyone wrong with it completing four crucial weeks at the office and the figures look like a great reason for the cast and crew to start celebrating; yes, it is a hit.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan in pivotal roles, and was released last Diwali. The film may have had a slow start, understandably so, but over the weeks, it only saw growth.

B-town trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to state the fourth weeks collections of the film at the box office: “#ADHM [Week 4] Fri 21 lacs, Sat 40 lacs, Sun 52 lacs, Mon 20 lacs, Tue 19 lacs, Wed 21 lacs, Thu 20 lacs. Total: ₹ 112.14 cr. India biz. HIT.”

In another tweet, the analyst also asserted that ADHM was proven to become the second highest grossing film for Ranbir and surprisingly, Johar's biggest hit: “#ADHM [Week 4] emerges Ranbir Kapoor’s *second highest* grosser, after #YJHD… KJo’s *highest* grosser, as director… HIT… India biz.”

The film is clearly one of the highest earning films of this year as it surpassed the Ajay Devgn starrer, Shivaay by some margin.

However, the film might now see some competition in the form of Dear Zindagi, starring Bollywood cutie Alia Bhatt and the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, which was released yesterday. Having a bright start, film is getting good reviews overall and is sure to make some dent at the box office. Will Dear Zindagi affect Ae Dil Hae Mushkil's earnings? Only time will tell.
