Demographic dividend
In Bangladesh, one-fourth of the country’s total population is in the 15-29 age group. In numbers, the country’s current youth population is 45.9 million, according to the census report published by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) last year.
Bangladesh boasts a young population, with an estimated 64% below the age of 35. This demographic dividend presents a unique opportunity to harness the energy, creativity, and dynamism of young people for national development. Their tech-savvy nature, coupled with a hunger for knowledge and a desire to contribute, makes them invaluable assets in building a smart nation. The digital dexterity and adaptability they possess allow them to readily embrace new technologies and innovative solutions, paving the way for a more efficient and interconnected society.
This is evident in the burgeoning startup ecosystem of Bangladesh, where young entrepreneurs are leveraging technology to disrupt traditional industries and tackle critical challenges. From developing mobile apps to improve healthcare access to creating AI-powered platforms for education, the youth are demonstrating their ability to not only adapt to the digital revolution but also spearhead it.
Beyond technological expertise, the youth of Bangladesh possess a vital advantage -- an unconstrained vision for the future. They are less burdened by the limitations of the past and are brimming with fresh ideas and perspectives.
