Justice should not be dragging its feet.
But, even after 12 years, many involved in the 2005 bomb attacks, when bombs went off simultaneously in 500 places nationwide, have yet to receive punishment of any kind.
Some of them are even free on bail.
Much of the problem lies with the fact that witnesses are becoming difficult to locate, and that many districts have slower judicial systems.
An efficient and effective judicial system is crucial to any democracy, and Bangladesh is no exception.
If justice for terrorism takes so long, and so many are allowed to get away, terrorists inevitably become emboldened.
It is time for our justice system to speed up, and send a strong message.
