A complete disregard for the rules

With the lockdown easing, and people starting to get out and about again, now is the time to remain vigilant and cautious, exercising social distancing to the best of our abilities.

However, it is unfortunate that, far from exercising caution and maintaining social distancing, people are throwing caution to the wind. It must be noted that there remains a transport ban, and people have been asked to not travel.

Despite these directives, there appears to be a complete disregard for them, as people have been seen to start travelling back to their homes from the capital -- thereby increasing the possibility of the spread of the coronavirus.

Such actions completely nullify all previous efforts by the authorities to contain the spread of the virus, and it is truly unfortunate that people are not realizing the long-term impacts of their actions.

Despite the authorities trying their best to contain people from leaving the city, some vehicles continue to slip through, and with the public transport ban, people are resorting to private vehicles, CNG-driven auto-rickshaws.

This desperation to leave the city by any means necessary is alarming and shows that people appear to be unaware of the potential consequences of their actions.

History has repeatedly shown that subsequent waves of a pandemic have hit nations harder, and we simply do not have the medical capacity to cope with a worsening situation.

This disregard for government directives and recklessness displayed by the people is threatening the entirety of the country, and the government must put a stop to this wave of travellers before the damage done is irreversible.
