Facebook Messenger appears to be down for many users across Bangladesh as well the world. A number of Facebook users from Bangladesh ranted on social media over the issue, saying they received the message “Chat is currently unavailable" when opening chat boxes. “Facebook Messages won’t send nor can I receive messages. None of my conversations can be seen and no previous messages are loading, just a blank screen,” a Bangladeshi wrote on her Facebook status. “Messenger has stopped working on all of my devices,” claimed another. However, many also reported that the Messenger app on iOS and Android platforms are functioning properly. According to independent outage report site DownDetector, users started reporting issues with the service just after 5pm on Tuesday.

The outage follows a similar problem for Facebook Messenger on November 30, when users reported being unable to send messages. At the time, Facebook wrote in response: “On Thursday November 30 just after midnight Pacific time we became aware that a few people were having issues with their Messenger accounts. We investigated and responded and the problem is resolved. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
