Bioscope Prime, a new feature of on-the-go entertainment platform Bioscope, which was launched on November 5, is showing newly released films such as “Poramon 2,” “Inspector Notty K,” and “Bengali Beauty.”
Subscribers of Grameenphone can enjoy these new and exclusive films using the feature.
Other features of Bioscope Prime includes live TV, which streams TV channels suchas Zee and Colors Network, music and different sports channels
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune Showtime, Bioscope’s Marketing and Content Head Mazharul Elahi said: “We wanted to create a streaming platform that provides quality content, exclusively for Grameenphone users. Even if Bioscope has a presence in the international market, we felt that there was not much demand for subscription-based content within Bangladesh. Our vision with Bioscope Prime is to create access to quality video content and original films for Bangladeshi users.”
Asked whether this platform will be monetized, Mazharul said: “We will be monetizing it soon, and it will be a win-win situation. It will encourage new directors to make content of good quality. It will also increase investment in our film industry. This is one way we feel we can tackle piracy in Bangladesh, as people will have direct access to movies at affordable rates.”
Regarding the choice of films to launch on Bioscope Prime, Mazharul said: “Through our various social media channels, we have seen demand for films such as ‘Poramon 2,’ ‘Inspector Notty K,’ and ‘Bengali Beauty,’ which led us to the decision of launching with these three particular films. However, we are bringing some blockbuster films to this platform very soon.”
A story of love, family drama, and complications of relationships, “Poramon 2” is the first collaboration of actors Siam and Puja Chery. “Inspector Notty K” is a romantic action-comedy starring popular actors Jeet and Nusrat Faria. “Bengali Beauty,” on the other hand, is a romantic story set in the 1970s, beautifully crafted by director Rahshan Noor and starring Mumtaheena Toya.
The special attraction of this platform are four short films directed by four popular directors, scheduled to be released on Bioscope Prime by mid-November. One of these short films, titled “Nishshash,” directed by Mahmudur Rahman Himi starring Tahsan and Mehazabien, is already available.
The other three are “Pizza Bhai,” directed by Nuhash Humayun and featuring new acting talents, Giasuddin Selim’s thriller “Preeti” featuring popular actor Pori Moni, and Animesh Aich’s “Raat” featuring Nusrat Imroze Tisha and Asif Azim.
When asked what has been the response to Bioscope Prime so far, Mazharul said: “We are honestly overwhelmed with the traction that this platform is gaining among the users. Bioscope is already among the 30 most downloaded applications on Google Play Store. It is also among the top 30, according to Alexa ratings. The response for Bioscope Prime has been very positive so far.”
