Budget FY21: BRTA services to cost more for car, SUV owners

The owners of private cars and SUVs will have to pay more for obtaining different services provided by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), as per the proposal of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

The minister announced a 5% hike on the supplementary duty for these services during his presentation of the national budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year in the parliament on Thursday.

According to the proposed budget, 15% supplementary duty will be imposed on fees charged for different BRTA services such as renewal of registration, fresh registration, route permit, fitness certificate, and ownership certificate among others which earlier was 10%.

However, this will not be applicable for passenger and school buses, trucks/lorries, three-wheelers, and ambulances.
